Facebook has reached an astonishing 750 million users worldwide now making it the Mecca for ‘all-things social networking’. Having such a broad user base and the ultimate social networking experience on earth, Facebook has decided to capitalize on that user base by offering a new Video Chat integrated into their simplistic chat system. The new video chat infrastructure will be powered by Skype who knows a thing or two about video chat over the internet.

Skype was recently purchased by Microsoft and as the deal goes through over the course of the next few months, Mark Zuckerberg, founder and CEO of Facebook, has decided to partner with Skype to rollout potentially the largest video chat base ever. Zuckerberg, in a live telecast on Facebook today, basically said doing business with Skype will ensure stability due to their purchase by Microsoft.

Some of the first tests after the recent rollout of Facebook’s new Video Chat reveals that it is buggy to say the least. Some sources have claimed that it is more to it than what Facebook showcased in their demo posted below.

Have you tried out Facebook Video Chat yet? If so, is it the best thing since sliced bread or just the best thing since the cell phone?
