As expected, the Windows 10 release has gone without any major hiccups and reached over a 4% global share.

Microsoft’s Windows 10 is sure to be a major hit among PC users around the world and the numbers for usage rates, which continue to rise, is evident of a successful launch of the new operating system. Having been out for over a week now, Windows 10 launched on July 29th has sustained a steady increase among usage. Just two days ago Windows sat at a 3.2% US share for usage climbing from 2.8% from Monday.

The chart below marks the steady increase and experts expect the trend to continue as word of Windows 10 and its new features that are looking more attractive to others to update continues to spread.

With the free upgrade to Windows 10 for those who had legitimate copies of Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 helped the growth factor, too. While adoption rates for Windows 10 don’t immediately appear to be as abundant as the core Mac base when the latest OS X Yosemite dropped in fall of 2014, the steady growth of Windows 10 will prove to be a major force to be reckoned with on the long term.

The overall global share has reached over 4% and doesn’t show any signs of slowing. Just after a week’s time, as clearly seen in the chart above, Windows 10 is here to stay and grow as one of the most popular operating systems in the world – eventually.
